Tym records #014. Swervedriver

I am VERY (VERY) happy to announce that Tym records is releasing the first new Swervedriver recording in 15 years recorded in July exclusively for Tym records on vinyl through my label to coincide with their Australian tour in September. Available worldwide exclusively through Tym records.
Swervedriver burst onto a very healthy British noisy rock scene and instantly made an impact with their high energy, melodic, heavy psych pop with the release of an EP in 1990 featuring the song Son of Mustang Ford, on the incredibly versatile Creation Records who also boasted such visionaries as Jesus and Mary Chain, Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Teenage Fanclub. Followed by EP's Rave Down, Sandblasted and Reel to Reel. Although this "movement" was dubbed "Shoegaze' the overpowering factor of this scene was melody and noise, and both were in excess.
Swervedriver released their debut LP Raise in 1991 featuring songs from the EP's and new songs. It was to set the template for the heavier end of the shoegaze movement with as much an ode to the Stooges and MC5 as it was to label mates and contemporaries like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and Husker Du. This was noisy rock/pop at it's very best.
They went on to release three more albums through the 90's of heavy, imaginative and catchy rock and in 1998 called it a day ....... in Australia, a place they had grown to love and who loved them irrevocably.
They reformed in 2008 and toured Australia in 2011 and are back this September to perform their debut album in full. For those of you too young to have seen them live, I recommend you get yourself to a venue their playing at on this tour. For those of you, like me, who saw them "back in the day" and reformed you will know why I personally consider them to be one of the greatest bands to ever exist.
