Tym Dead Meadow Fuzz
Out of Stock
The Dead Meadow fuzz in an exclusive fuzz designed and hand built by me for US psych/stoner band Dead Meadow. It is loosly based on several old fuzz circuits but tone wise relies heavily on the Ibanez Standard Fuzz and uses several "tricks" from Univox/Shen-ei fuzzes, all from back in the early 70's.
It has an active tone stack featuring low pass/high pass filter and 2 NOS 945 transistors in the heart of the fuzz section. The circuit also features a "mid" and "bass" mini toggle switch for fine tuning based on Jason's amps.
As always it comes in my custom made stainless steel enclosures and features a standard "BOSS" style 9V adaptor plug.
The first few batches made will be serial numbered with a song title off a Dead Meadow album in chronological order. 1 per customer. These will be sold in batches of 10 every few months. For more info check the blog.
When Tim approached me with the idea for a pedal I gave him the daunting task of recreating the fuzzed out tones of the first Dead Meadow record. I gave him detailed descriptions: A deep buzzing sustaining fuzz, the sound of the world breaking apart, the perfectly insane tone right before your amp and speakers blow out. Somehow Tim made sense of these ravings and extracted the pedal I had long been imagining. Jason Simon.
My designs are inspired by the classic old units but with modern components and appointments and many options like true bypass or non true bypass switching, LED's, added "active" tone controls, boosts and "Boss" compatible 9 volt adapters. NONE of my pedals use batteries.
