Old Crow Medicine Show - Carry me Back 12"
Out of Stock
The Nashville group almost imploded making this fourth album, but the bust-ups left no scars on their music. Instead comes a polished set of original songs that stretch their old-timey, southern identity into new shapes. The exuberant bluegrass of Carry Me Back to Virginia carries lyrics that revisit the horrors of the US civil war, while Levi mourns a soldier killed in Iraq, "a country boy who didn't belong in the desert". Amid breakneck banjo and fiddle romps such as Mississippi Saturday Night are less expected, reflective pieces such as Ain't It Enough, with its utopian sentiment that "there's a place for us all here".
